At Souder Law Group, we believe the law should be a tool for liberation — not limitation. That belief drives every intake, every application, and every conversation with our clients. It's also what fuels the work of team members like Thyquel M. Halley, who ensures our clients not only understand the legal process, but feel supported, seen, and empowered every step of the way.
We sat down with Thyquel to learn how values like representation, access, and clarity play out in real-time — especially when serving urban communities seeking to shape their own futures.

Q: Which SLG value resonates most with you?
Thyquel: There are several that guide how I approach my work, but one that really hits home is: “If you don't learn how the law works, others will build — but it won't be for you.”
That’s the truth. It’s why we do the work we do — to make sure Black and Brown communities are not only aware of the process but actively shaping it. Legal knowledge shouldn’t be gatekept. At SLG, we make sure our clients are part of the build — not left out of it.
Q: Can you share a project that brought that value to life?
One that stands out is our work on Mulberry Street. It’s a perfect example of how our relationships within the local municipality — built through professionalism and trust — allow us to move quickly and with confidence.
We were able to save the client time and money while significantly reducing their stress. How? By understanding the process better than anyone else and being respected by the decision-makers. That kind of insight and access can mean the difference between a stalled project and a successful one.
Q: You mentioned success was multi-layered. Can you explain that?
Thyquel: Absolutely. At SLG, saving time, saving money, and relieving stress aren’t three separate wins — they’re all interconnected. When we move efficiently through city approvals, we help avoid project delays, reduce holding costs, and get our clients to the next milestone faster.
And because we handle the back-and-forth with local agencies, clients aren’t stuck navigating a maze of bureaucracy — they can stay focused on the big picture while we manage the details. That level of trust and reliability is something we’ve earned, and we protect it.
Q: Is there a quote or phrase you share to keep clients encouraged?
Thyquel: Yes — one of my favorites is: “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says, ‘I’m possible.’” – Audrey Hepburn.
I’ve shared that with clients during moments when the process felt heavy or the road uncertain. Because we’re here to remind them: it is possible. We’ve got them.
At Souder Law Group, we believe that access to the system isn’t enough — understanding it, navigating it, and using it to build community power is the real goal.
With team members like Thyquel leading with integrity, strategy, and care, we’re not just helping clients through the process — we’re making sure they feel at home in it.
